The White Carpathian House of Nature

The White Carpathian House of Nature offers an indoor and outdoor exhibition with a range of interactive elements, where you can learn many interesting things about the nature, landscape and also culture of the White Carpathians.

The exposition is divided into four parts. The introductory part named Caress the Landscape presents the Carpathian Arc as a whole. The next part, Forests, allows you to test your knowledge of the right forest management and meet some of the typical inhabitants living here. The largest space is occupied by Meadows, known for their natural richness. You will also learn why regular care is necessary and what happens in the grass during the whole year. You can listen here to the sounds of some typical animals and study the seeds of meadow herbs under a lens. For the youngest visitors, there is a den where they can listen to twenty White Carpathian fairy tales. The last item, Aboveground and Underground, occupies two rooms and shows that life in the soil is rich and how important it is for life on the surface. The information panels are complemented by unique short films from the special world of soil.

The House of Nature has a library with scientific and popular literature, and is equipped with a lecture room where films about the White Carpathians are screened. The outdoor spaces offer a natural garden and a model of the Morava River. For schoolchildren, two outdoor classrooms are available.

Throughout the year, many activities are held in the spaces of the House of Nature: lectures and discussions for the public, seminars for professionals, and programmes for schoolchildren. You can also book guided fieldtrips to the White Carpathians.

The building is located in the historic centre of the town of Veselí nad Moravou, on Bartolomějské náměstí Square. The exposition space includes remains of the medieval town fortifications.
