About the Czech Karst House of Nature

The Visitor Centre of the Bohemian Karst near the Koněprusy Caves is situated in a geologically remarkable area of the ‘Kotýz and Zlatý kůň’ national natural monument above the Čertovy schody quarry.

Opened in March 2024, the visitor centre presents the unique natural and geological heritage of the Bohemian Karst, the largest limestone area in Bohemia with nearly 700 registered caves. It was established by the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic.

The indoor exhibition introduces visitors to the geological development of the area, karst processes, fossils, and the living nature of this protected landscape. Interactive elements, models, and games make the experience engaging for both adults and children.

The outdoor exhibition is located around the building. Visitors can explore a geotrail with dozens of rock samples documenting more than 600 million years of Earth’s history, a bronze model of the Koněprusy Caves, and the Zlatý kůň educational trail, which leads through valuable natural sites of the Bohemian Karst.

The House of Nature serves as a modern visitor centre with a ticket office for the Koněprusy Caves, a gift shop, refreshments, and facilities for families and cyclists.
